Held on Singapore’s Jurong Island, a manmade island that is the heart of Singapore’s energy and chemicals industry, Evonik successfully broke ground for their S$761 million second methionine plant. The Guest-of-Honour for the event was Singapore’s Deputy Prime Minister and Co-ordinating Minister for Economic and Social Policies, Mr. Tharman Shanmugaratnam.
A large air-conditioned aluminium marquee was erected to house the entire event, whilst adjoining smaller marquees housed facilities such as a media room, a kitchen, a storage room and washrooms.
The main event revolved around the symbolic shovelling of sand from the sandbox as well as the unveiling of the artist’s impression of the future Me6 plant. Exhibition panels were also scattered throughout the reception area in order to further accentuate the key points and highlights of the future plant.
Other logistics handled included erecting lamp post banners through the entire route leading to the ground-breaking site, as well as transport arrangements for guests from different parts of Singapore.
